Hi, I'm Emma, the maker behind Throwing Loops.
 

I first discovered my love for clay in 2017, but it wasn't until 2022 that I joined a community studio in Berlin and began making pieces regularly. Around the same time, I was teaching myself traditional cell animation. And before long, I started combining the two. 
 

That idea became Throwing Loops (formerly ET Ceramics). Each mug, vase, or bowl is hand-thrown and hand-painted with individual animation frames that together create playful movements.
 

The name Throwing Loops brings together two things I love: "throwing" clay on the wheel and creating silly animated loops.

I moved to Scotland in 2025 and I now work from a shared studio in Edinburgh.
